Chiefs In Ashanti Region Not Happy With Akufo-Addo's Gov’t - A/R NDC Secretary Claims

Ashanti Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwame Zu says his party does not need the service of a prophet to convince them that the people of the Ashanti Region will vote massively for the NDC in the 2020 general election.

According to him, the campaign tour of former President John Dramani Mahama to the Ashanti Region was enough evidence that the people, especially the Chiefs in the region are not happy with the Akufo-Addo government.

Recounting the disappointment of the Chiefs during the campaign of former President John Mahama in the Ashanti Region, Kwame Zu on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show said that the Chiefs told the NDC Flagbearer the unfulfilled promises of President Nana Addo in the areas of ‘one district, one factory and the 1 million per constituency every year’.

“When John Mahama was campaigning in the region, the Chiefs told him that Nana Addo promised to build factories and they felt that he being an elderly man, he can never lie to them but they are disappointed in him for not building any factory in the region,” he posited.

“If you listen to the Chiefs, they are not happy with Nana Addo as he could not fulfil the 1-million-dollar promise to every constituency per year,” he claimed.

He, therefore, alluded the disappointment of the Chiefs in the Ashanti Region to the assumption that it will transform into votes for the opposition NDC as it has proven to be the party that has brought development to the region than the NPP.

“Ashanti Region will make a significant impact in this election and we are very sure that the margins of the NDC will be historic which have never happened in the Ashanti Region before . . . we are hopeful that as the Ashanti Region is energised to vote for the NDC, other regions will display a similar thing,” he said.
