Ghanaian Women Should Protect Their Progress: Minister For Information Sets The Records Straight

The Deputy National coordinator for the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), Ms. Rosemond Obeng is set to premiere an exclusive interview featuring the Minister of Information who is also the Honourable Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency. He gives precise detailing into the already explored and well propagated flagship women empowerment policies of the NPP led administration few days to the polls come December 7th.

Rosemond Obeng, popularly known as “People’s Mother”, was once the Women’s Commissioner for KNUST SRC, she is a political, social and women empowerment activist. Through her work as a women’s activist, she is helping to highlight initiatives that particularly empower young women.
Speaking as a woman who is politically active, she has stated several times that she believes, the Akufo-Addo-led government has done more for women than any other government in the history of the Fourth Republic.

As Ghanaian women prepare to elect a government for the next four years, she continues to propagate the good works of the NPP and the Nana Addo-led administration. Through the program, Interact With People’s Mother, Expectations 2020 which serves as a platform to promote women development conversations even further. As declared by her during the premiere of the program to “discuss, digest and explore women’s empowerment initiatives contributing to uplifting Ghanaian women”, the female political activist has deflated the misconceptions that the achievement of the women’s empowerment movement is when a woman is used by a major political party for mere political expediency and politicking to offer a neutral ground for a failed and an unappealing candidate as a flagbearer.

She is of the opinion that as much as women should be given a place at the decision table where decisions are taken, there is a greater need for any serious government to ensure the implementation of initiatives and programs that will significantly change the lives of masses of Ghanaian women. The project, she has stated also will serve as a fertile ground to empower the less privilege and the vulnerable in society.

Rosemond Obeng mainly gets her message across through her social media platforms, which are also digitized platforms for community of empowered women. An example of such platforms is her YouTube Channel (Peoples Mother Tv), also a content driven daily news portal www.peoplesmother.org among others. She recently launched an E-Book that contains the flagship policies and initiatives undertaken by the ruling New Patriotic Party and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration which could be accessed on her website by the click of a button.

The female activist has on numerous times and on several platforms both social and traditional media stated remarkable things the sitting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has done to support women under his regime as well as pointing out the politicking employed by the previous government who couldn’t improve the lives of Ghanaian women and was rather wicked to them.

Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, during the exclusive interview on Interact with People’s Mother show admonished Ghanaian women not to settle for a retrogression in their progress. He rather encouraged women to rally behind Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led administration as he promises to do more when given a second term for his re-election bid.
