E.C.G Wins Digital Company Of The Year At Ghana Social Media Business & Creative Arts Awards 2020

The Electricity Company of Ghana (E.C.G) has been adjudged the Digital Company of the Year at the recently held Ghana Social Media Business and Creative Arts Awards in Accra.

According to the organizer, the Electricity Company of Ghana snatched the win in a highly competitive category due to their innovative application which allowed E.C.G customers to make payments and other transactions through the application from anywhere in the country without physical presence during the emergence of the Coronavirus.

The organizer of the Ghana Social Media Business and Creative Arts Awards Ellis Adjei has stated that in this digital era, social media and its related technologies must make life better and easier for the average person.

It is for this reason he believes the Electricity Company of Ghana (E.C.G) undoubtedly deserved to emerge as the 'Digital Company of the Year'. "E.C.G's app was nouvelle and came at the right time. It came to solve the issue of having to move from one location to the other just to pay bills and make other related purchases. And, with the deadly Coronavirus around, it limited human - to - human contact which was very good to date.
This is the benefit of technology and at the same time, it's still keeping a good business relationship between E.C.G and their customers. This is a very good example of business and technology working together to improve society", he explained.

The Director of Communications at the Electricity Company of Ghana William Boateng said that they appreciated the recognition and advised the youth to use social media as a channel to tap into the global business market.

"We gave our customers something to smile about because they could do business with us from the comfort of their homes and still receive quality service from E.C.G. It's also quite delightful that the app came at a time when we were globally faced with the threat of Covid - 19 and it helped in reducing the spread of the virus. Moving forward, the youth should take advantage of Social Media because today, it is a globally competitive business market on its own", he said.

The Social Media Community Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana Harriet Banful, also picked up the award for the 'Social Media Manager/ Administrator of the Year - Government Agency'.
