'Patapaa' Won't Help You; Go To Court If . . . ! - Mpraeso MP Blasts Mahama

Member of Parliament for Mpraeso constituency in the Eastern Region, Seth Kwame Acheampong has rebuked the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over their reaction to the 2020 Presidential elections.

The NDC has refused to acknowledge the President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The party has accused the Electoral Commission of election fraud.

They believe their Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama won the elections but has been short-changed.

As a result, there have been series of protests by NDC supporters in hope to overturn the election verdict.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Seth Acheampong, who doubles as Chairman of the Parliamentary Defence and Interior Committee, condemned in no uncertain terms the behaviour of the NDC in the aftermath of the elections.

According to him, whatever concerns the party and their candidate have should be dealt with according to law, hence calling on them to bring their supporters to order.

Hon. Acheampong asked the NDC to replicate the attitude of President Nana Akufo-Addo, who as Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012 went to court to settle his grievances when he felt there was a stolen verdict.

"The law states that if you are disgruntled about something, there is an appropriate place to go for redress. You don't take the laws in your hands and violently attack the Electoral Commission which has executed their duty," he admonished the NDC.

To him, the posture of the party and Mr. Mahama is a contravention of Ghana's laws.

"It's against the laws . . . It doesn't show good conduct; it's unacceptable," he asserted.
