2020 Election: NDC Cannot Contest Prez Akufo-Addo’s Victory - Buaben Asamoa

Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa says the victory of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the just-ended 2020 general election cannot be contested by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta Constituency, Ghanaians favoured the opposition NDC leader, former President John Dramani Mahama with over 6 million votes and his Parliamentary candidates with almost a majority in Parliament to deepen democracy for a better decision to be taken in the interest of the nation.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Buaben Asamoa noted that the one-touch victory of President Akufo-Addo is a clear indication that Ghanaians are interested in his governance; hence, they voted massively for him to continue his good works.

He reiterated that the results in the Parliamentary election show clearly that Ghanaians want their voices to be heard as they voted in a direction which depicts that they want the opposition NDC in Parliament to be strong and assist the Akufo-Addo government to come out with refined programs that will inure to the benefit of every Ghanaian.

“Nobody can challenge the victory of Nana Akufo-Addo; his victory cannot be contested but rather it is the Parliamentary that Ghanaians have demonstrated that they want to see it being strengthened and deepened so that they can offer good counsel to the President and help him make a decision together with the opposition," he indicated.

He, however, urged the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to accept defeat and also to thank Ghanaians for voting for them to be heard loudly in Parliament.
