What Animal Is Independent Forensic Audit? - Kweku Baako Queries Mahama

Seasoned Journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has lambasted Ex-President John Dramani Mahama for calling for an independent forensic audit of the 2020 Presidential election verdict.

Ex-President John Mahama has refused to accept his defeat nor acknowledge the President-elect.

''We will not accept anything short of a declaration of the legitimate results which points to an NDC Parliamentary majority," Mr. Mahama stated in his post-election speech to his supporters and the nation.

He further requested an independent forensic audit because, to him, his ballots were stolen to secure victory for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Kweku Baako says Mr. Mahama's call for independent forensic audit is neither here nor there.

He noted that auditing of the election results is the sole responsibility of the Supreme Court.

"He says we need independent forensic audit, isn't it? What animal is that? What animal is that in the face of the law and the constitution, and any other statute? I don't understand it. See, only the Supreme Court, assuming you go to court, make your case and show your pink sheets and all those things, and it's occasioned that the Supreme Court should order audit, then they can do that...If the Supreme Court is so minded that truly, we have to order independent forensic audit, it may happen and [my word here] the operative word is 'may' but you cannot demand ahead of going to court that you want a forensic audit," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

''Who should provide that audit? Who's going to appoint the auditor?...Who is going to appoint who to do what, where and when?'' he questioned.
