I Never Expected NDC To Perform This "Magic" - Simon Osei-Mensah

Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah has applauded the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over their performance in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The NDC Presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama lost the elections but impressed many Ghanaians by polling 6,213,182 votes representing 47.35% which is a major improvement upon the 2016 election results where he attained 4,800,737 votes representing 44.6%.

The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,587 representing 51.30%.

The NDC also closed up the Parliamentary gap by securing 137 seats with the incumbent government also getting 137 seats, unlike the 2016 Parliamentary elections where the governing New Patriotic Party acquired 169 seats against the NDC's 106 seats.

This shows this year's elections were a very close contest.

Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Hon. Simon Osei Mensah congratulated the opposition party stressing he never expected them to get such votes.

To him, he had concrete hope in a landslide victory for President Nana Akufo-Addo but the NDC indeed gave them a tight competition.

"I congratulate the NDC. I never ever expected them to perform this magic," he stated.
