The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) held successful and exciting fun games at the St. Thomas Aquinas Senior School park on Wednesday.

Four teams participated in the event which was full of fun and excitement.

Speaking after the event in Accra, Madam Rafatu Inusah who happens to be a board member of the Ghana Rugby Football Union and the Organizer of the event said, “on return to play on the directives from the President of the Republic of Ghana, the Rugby family were excited to come back to the pitch to start training but of course with Covid 19 precautionary measures”

Training has been going on for the past months with Eagles men and women from Monday to Friday. The necessary measures were put in place like the use of Veronica buckets and soaps to watch their hands before and after training”

“Today’s match was just to come together as one big family to compete, have fun, and to end the year with a well wish to all and get ready for 2021”, she added.

Adding his voice after the fun games, the President and Board Chairman of the Union and ace sports administrator, Herbert Mensah stated that the rationale behind the fun games is to mark the end of a successful year for the union.

Though the Coronavirus pandemic brought virtually everything under the sun to a standstill, Mr. Mensah believes the Ghana Rugby Football Union had a successful year.

He mentioned that the Union engaged in various campaigns to propagate to Ghanaians and the world at large the need to practice the Coronavirus safety measures as well as supporting the government in the fight against the disease through the donations of personal protective equipment to individuals, institutions, and communities in the country.

The former Asante Kotoko Executive Chairman also stated that the Ghana Rugby Football Union also tested about 350 members of the association where 12 were positive for the devastating coronavirus but through the help of the Union these twelve came negative.

Mr. Herbert Mensah also stated that the Ghana Rugby Football Union also used the fun games to explain to their sponsors the activities that the union has been embarking on throughout the year and ambitions for 2021.
