Re-Opening Of Schools: Double Track Ends For SHS 1 & 3 Students - Akufo-Addo Announces

President Akufo-Addo has announced the end of the double-track system for all SHS 1 and SHS 3 students nationwide.

According to him, the government has expanded infrastructure to accommodate all students.

Akufo-Addo who was speaking in his 21st COVID-19 update on Sunday, January 3, 2020 said: "All SHS 1 students will start classes from 10th March with all students going on a single track. SHS 2 and 3 students will, however, return to school from 18th January. The SHS 3 students like SHS 1 will no longer run the double-track system. The expansion of infrastructure has brought us to this favourable situation".

This means it is only SHS 2 students who will be on the double-track system when they reopen.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has also confirmed the reopening of schools for kindergarten, primary, and junior high students which will be on 15th January 2021 for both private and public schools.

"Our children must go to school…we are satisfied that in the current circumstances the reopening of our schools is safe...Prior to the reopening, all institutions private and public will be fumigated" he added.
