Some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have excoriated the election of Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament.

Those not in favour of Hon. Bagbin becoming the Speaker have argued that he belongs to the opposition NDC and so will sabotage the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Majority in Parliament, the NPP.

Recently, there was a seeming Olympic games in Parliament as Tema West MP, Carlos Ahenkorah grabbed ballot papers and attempted to whisk away with them, and was violently chased by some members of the Minority, notable among them was the Asawase MP, Mubarak Muntaka.

To Carlos Ahenkorah, he attempted to run with the ballot papers to force a run-off to happen because he doesn't trust a Speaker who is a member of an opposition party.

Due to the event that unfolded in Parliament, some critics have asked a critical question; who among the NPP Majority voted for Hon. Bagbin?

In attempting to answer this question, Dr. Benjamin Okyere Ankrah, a lecturer at the Central University in Accra, explained that the election of Hon. Bagbin clearly showed how dishonest politicians are, in that they may pledge allegiance to a person but, in their minds, have ulterior motives.

According to him, in politics, dogs are more honest than humans.

"In politics, dogs are more honest than human beings. Because when you decide to go to the farm with a dog and it says it's tired or unwilling to go, it will return for you to know it has refused to follow you, but in politics, the person will go with you alright but has already changed his/her decision in his or her mind," he told sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".
