Mr Phanuel Donkor Kadey, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), has called on residents to strictly observe the COVID-19 preventive protocols to contain the spread.

The battle against the coronavirus, he said, persisted and was necessary for all to support government and health personnel efforts to tackle the disease.

Mr Kadey in an interview with the Ghana News Agency disclosed that the District recorded a total of 10 cases last year, however, all the patients were treated and discharged.

He said though the District currently had no active case, the country was not out of the risk yet, so, "we have to wear our masks, wash our hands regularly under running water, and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer to stop its spread."

The District Public Health Committee, District COVID-19 Taskforce and Assembly members were commended for working assiduously to ensuring that residents complied with health safety rules.

The DCE lauded the professionalism exhibited by the health personnel in the District and urged them to continue with the good work.

On schools' reopening, he appealed to parents to allow their children to go back to school as comprehensive measures were in place to ensure their safety.

"Every school in the District is safe because we have no active case, so parents should send their children back to school. We also have measures in place to protect them," he added.

Mr Kadey said the Assembly had provided some PPEs to schools, adding that plans were underway to supply them with additional ones to curb the spread of the virus.

He called on teachers to endeavour to ensure that pupils and students adhered to the preventive measures to avoid the spread of the virus within the school environment.

He also implored pupils and students to be obedient, focus on their studies and observe the protocols.
