Board Chairman of the National Theatre and a staunch NPP leading member, Nana Fredua has called on the security agencies to ensure Ghanaians strictly adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Ghana seems to be experiencing a second wave of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as the country's daily numbers of infection have skyrocketed.

The country has currently recorded 695 new cases shooting the active cases up to 3,525.

Unfortunately, 367 people have died of the disease.

The current situational report on the coronavirus has become extremely worrying and President Nana Akufo-Addo, in his 22nd nation update, warned of another lockdown should the citizens continue to disregard the safety protocols.

"We do not want to go back to the days of partial lockdowns, which had a negative impact on our economy and on our way of life. But should that become necessary, i.e., should the number of active cases continue to increase at the current rate, I will have no option but to re-impose these restrictions because it is better to be safe than to be sorry. So, together, let us all ensure that we respect the protocols," he said.

He also charged the Police and other security agencies to enforce the laws.

"In furtherance of this, I have instructed the Inspector General of Police to direct officers, men and women of the Police Service to ensure the rigorous enforcement of the law on mask-wearing at all public places and in public transport. They are also to ensure the closure of all night clubs, pubs, cinemas and beaches that may be operating in defiance of the law. They will be assisted by the other security agencies, if need be.''

Nana Fredua, speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', has urged the security agencies to enforce the laws as the President has directed.

He expressed disappointment in Ghanaians for not taking the disease seriously.

"Enforce the law. It's the law that we want you to work with but in enforcing the law, don't misuse your authority and terrorize people," he messaged the Police Service.

Nana Fredua further admonished Ghanaians to protect themselves and stop the spread of the disease.
