Election Petition: "EC Sacked Me From The Strongroom" – Rojo Mettle-Nunoo Testifies In Court

The two representatives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the strongroom; Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte and Rojo Mettle-Nunoo had indicated that they were asked by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Jean Mensa to go and consult with the Petitioner, John Mahama.

When the second witness, Dr. Kpessah-Whyte, stepped in the witness box, he said: “I have no reason for lying. When we were leaving the room, I informed in the open room to the hearing of everybody that we were instructed by the Chairperson of the EC to go and consult with our flagbearer who is the petitioner on the basis of our observations and therefore, she was going to make sure that she send a rider to bring us back to the strong room because of the potential of traffic then therefore when we finish the process then the results will be announced”.

Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, a third witness of the petitioner who is testifying today, also corroborated Dr Kpessa-Whyte's statement but added that he was initially sacked from the strongroom.

“In the early hours of the 9th, (December 2020) I was sacked . . . The EC sacked me from the strongroom; it has never happened before . . ” he said while testifying via a video link.

He, however, didn’t indicate why he was sacked from the strongroom.
