Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya West constituency, George Andah has called for intense public education on the COVID-19 vaccines to dispel all negative theories and controversies surrounding it.

Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', George Andah was concerned about the stories some people have been peddling about the vaccines which he stated are aimed at discouraging people from taking the vaccines when they arrive in Ghana.

George Andah advised the appropriate authorities to intensify the education because the vaccines are the remedy for the viral disease.

"I've seen on social media where a lot of people have started negative agenda on these vaccines to discourage people from getting vaccinated. So, we must start aggressive education, aggressive advocacy for the vaccines to protect us against this COVID-19 pandemic that's taken us by surprise," he said.

He also cautioned Ghanaians to stop flouting the COVID-19 safety protocols but encouraged them to wear their nose masks, practice social distancing and strictly observe all the protocols to protect themselves and others from getting infected by the disease.



Ghana's COVID-19 status

Ghana’s active cases have shot up to 6,352 after 722 new Covid-19 cases, according to updates by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

As of 3rd February 2021, 63,959 patients have recovered/discharged.

The cumulative figure now stands at 70,768.

Meanwhile, 8 more deaths have been recorded taking the tally to 457.
