Rev. Fr. Dr. Raymond Osei-Tutu, Catholic Archdiocese Chancellor, has vehemently condemned the act of homosexuality and its promotion in Ghana.

According to him, the Catholic church frowns on the act and therefore doesn't support the setting up of an office for homosexuals in the nation nor its advocacy.

His comments come on the heels of recent establishment of an office for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender and Queer Intersex Rights (LGBTQI+) in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' programme, he read a statement by the Catholic church saying, "this is the most authoritative statement of the Catholic church. It says that homosexuality refers to the relationship between a man and a woman who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction towards persons of the same sex...Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained basing itself on sacred scripture which presents homosexuals as acts of grave depravity. That the word, 'grave depravity'. Tradition has always declared that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered".

He, however, clarified that the Catholic church doesn't hate homosexuals but their acts as ''evil''.

He called on the government and the entire citizenry to condemn the opening of the LGBTQI office and the practice of homosexuality.

"We must speak the truth to the extent should those who are for it dominate us, at least we will know we never went down without a fight of a truth which is that the act or the promotion of homosexual act is intrinsically fundamentally depraved and evil...It is about time the government makes the laws very clear," he said.
