Chiefs Angry with NDC

The Chiefs of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area have expressed their displeasure about the level of interference in their chieftaincy matters by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). This follows a meeting held by the chiefs of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area to deliberate on issues concerning chieftaincy matters in the area. The chiefs, in a statement signed by Nana Yao Ntaadu III, Krontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso traditional area, said some NDC functionaries and District Chief Executives (DCE) of the Sefwi Wiawso traditional area were the cause of the unsolved chieftaincy dispute in the area. Mr. Ato Ahwoi, Hon. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minster and all the four DCEs who constitute the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency are the cause of the long delay in solving the chieftaincy dispute in this area, the statement observed. The chiefs have therefore asked the NDC to stop meddling in their chieftaincy matters else they would have no alternative than to advice themselves. The statement also affirmed that during the last visit of President Mills to the area, the Omanhene of the area, Nana Nkuah Okomdom II, was not invited to the durbar ground but the Queen mother and her group was invited. The report further claimed that the police in the area had turned themselves into king makers in the traditional area during this NDC regime. It further added that the government had put an embargo on the Sefwi Waiwso Traditional Council Royalties without any reason. The chiefs of the traditional area, which is one of the strongholds of the NDC, have therefore asked the NDC government to desist from interfering in chieftaincy matters in the traditional area if the NDC wants to maintain the area as one of its strongholds.
