GHS Director-General Applauds Health Workers At COVID-19 Battlefield

Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, has applauded the work of the  health workers at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Dr. Kuma Aboagye was pleased with the selfless attitude of the frontline health workers in attending to COVID-19 victims.

He further praised the Ghana Health Service management and staff for their strategic work, particularly in the area of administering vaccines to protect Ghanaians against the pandemic disease.

Dr. Aboagye was optimistic the health authorities and workers are on top of their job and will work harder to vaccinate and keep Ghanaians safe, ensuring the nation is COVID-19 free.

"So far, we have vaccinated 850,000 people. So far, we have received about 966,000 vaccines. Ghana Health Service, we have a very, very effective deployment plan. Last year, in COVID, we vaccinated 6 million people with yellow fever in less than a week," he disclosed.

He, however, advised Ghanaians not to let their guard down but keep observing the COVID-19 preventive protocols till the nation is declared safe from the disease.
