“#FixTheCountry” Has A Political Tone - Abronye Calls Out Convener

The Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe has hit hard at a supposed member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who is the crusader of the “Fix The Country” campaign against the Akufo-Addo government.

According to him, the “Fix The Country” campaign is championed by one Vormenyo, a former Senior Legal and Policy Advisor for former President Atta Mills and former President John Mahama from 2009 and 2016.

"So, those who are shouting fix the country especially one Vormenyo should have revealed his identity to Ghanaians very well. Why is he hiding his identity from Ghanaians? He is shouting 'fix the country' but I want to ask you whether you are aware that between 2009 and 2016, he worked at the office of the President. He was the senior legal and policy advisor for former President Mills and former President John Mahama,” he asserted.

He was of the view that the call for President Akufo-Addo to “Fix The Country” has a political tone.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Abronye DC as affectionately called, said that the conveners of the “Fix The Country” should be specific with the areas they think should be fixed.

"When we talk of the bad economy, it is not only one thing but rather we are talking about the agriculture sector, trade and industry, the security side, and the road infrastructure. These comprise the economy and so if you say fix the country, which sector under this government led by President Akufo-Addo do you think needs to be fixed?" he quizzed.

He stressed that Vormenyo’s paymasters are pushing him to shout “fix the country”, indicating why he has not been able to mention some of the specific things of the economy that were fixed under former President Mills and John Mahama that have been destroyed under President Akufo-Addo.

“First of all, those who are saying ‘fix the country’ when the NDC was in power, the position of Ghana in the agriculture sector in the world was 78th and the sector grew 0.4 per cent for the entire 8 years of the NDC in power. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not even 8 years in power but the Agriculture sector has grown by 6 per cent and Ghana is not one of the countries in Africa which has hunger issue,” he argued.
