We Don't Transfer Teachers As A Form of Punishment - Director-General of GES Clears The Air

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa has refuted claims that teachers get transferred when they raise issues about their welfare and that of their schools.

Professor Opoku-Amankwa, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, laughed off any such allegations.

According to him, no teacher has been transferred to a different community or school for reasons that he or she expressed his or her grievances.

"It is not true," he stressed while discussing matters concerning the education sector with host Kwami Sefa Kayi.

He explained that transfer is part of their obligations, so when a teacher is sent to teach somewhere, it is not to punish them.

He, however, advised teachers to use the appropriate channel to communicate their problems to their leadership.
