The prophetess at the centre of the suspected burying of a disabled child alive at Breman Brakwa in the Central region has been arrested.
Sixty-four-year-old Ama Nkansah, the Presiding Prophetess of Christ First Word Church International at Gomoa Eshiem was arrested by some opinion leaders at her hideout at Gomoa Ajumako on June 1, 2021, and handed over to the Breman Asikuma police.
She was detained to assist in the case of murder of Kwame Adobaw
Preliminary investigations
Preliminary police investigations revealed that Adobaw was married to one Yaa Atta at Brakwa and they had five children with the deceased Yaw Adobaw being their fourth child.
Disabled since birth
Reports gathered according to the Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Irene Oppong further indicated that the deceased from the time of his birth was not able to walk on which basis the father, Adobaw consulted Prophetess Ama Nkansah at Gomoa Eshiem.
She was said to have told Paul Adobaw that if he did not return the child to the gods he Adobaw would keep giving birth to such children.
On May 31, 2021, the Breman Asikuma Magistrate court remanded father of five, Paul Adobaw alias Kojo Okor in police custody. He would appear again before the court on August 31, 2021.
Police said investigations into the case indicated that Paul Adobaw with Ama Nkansah had buried the one and half a year old child, Yaw Adobaw because Nkansah insisted the child was a spirit child.
Police report
According to Ms Oppong, on May 27, at 3.30 pm, one Abubakari Mohammed accompanied one Kwesi Afriyie to make a report at the Brakwa Station on the same day at about 12.30am, that he (Mohammed) woke up from bed and saw Adobaw, (who was Mohammed's landlord) together with two women, one holding a child, digging the ground behind their house.
According to the police, Mohammed said when he enquired about what they were doing, Adobaw told him they were carrying out a traditional rite.
Mohammed however discovered later that the trio had buried the child at the spot.
Arrest
The Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Irene Oppong, said police arrested Adobaw and together with Mohammed they went to the scene of the incident.
Ms Oppong said police found behind the said building a covered grave.
She said the police instructed the Adobaw to open the grave and the body of the deceased, Yaw Adobaw aged was found lying naked in a prone position in the grave.
Exhumation
She said when the body was exhumed and washed. Upon careful inspection by the police, they found blood had oozed out of the nostrils and mouth.
The body has since been deposited at Our Lady of Grace Hospital Mortuary at Breman Asikuma for preservation and autopsy.

However, Yaw had not been able to walk since birth for which basis the father, Adobaw consulted Prophetess Ama Nkansah at Gomoa Eshiem.
The police said Nkansah was said to have told Adobaw that the baby was spirit child from a river and that if he did not return the child to the river gods he would continue to give birth to such babies.
Ms Oppong said on the day of the incident, Adobaw and the Prophetess sent the baby to the backyard of the house near the Gyankobeng stream, dug a grave, performed some rituals on the child and buried him alive.
