Recent Attacks: We Are Reaping Massive Influx of NPP Vigilante Members In Security Agencies - Gen. Mosquito

General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says the obstinate nature of the Akufo-Addo government to use the right procedure in recruiting people into the security agencies is responsible for the unprofessional conduct of some of the personnel in the security agencies.

According to him, the loud silence of Ghanaians when the opposition NDC complained about the NPP government recruiting members of their vigilante groups into the security services emboldened the government to ignore the professional way to recruit personnel devoid of partisan and tribal lines.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, General Mosquito as affectionately called noted that the recent attacks on civilians by some officers of the security agencies are a result of the way recruitments into the various agencies were done under the Akufo-Addo administration.

" . . if you go against the accepted procedure in recruiting people, you are inviting chaos into the country. But this government is obstinate and will not listen to any advice and so they continued to do the wrong things even when we were admonishing them for the danger ahead," he asserted.

"We saw how the government was training vigilantes and when we complained, this government didn’t listen and even denied any training at Afienya. We all kept quiet about it and now these people are in security uniforms, and so we are not able to tell whether the NPP vigilante boys are behind the military and the police attacks or the professionally trained security personnel are behind the attacks,” he posited.

He stressed that, "what is happening today are the things we have deliberately planted and they are now bearing fruits and we are harvesting them . . . it is as if we know this road leads to the hellfire and yet we are still on it”.

He, however, bemoaned that the recent display of some of the officers of the security agencies is giving the agencies a bad name and also making people lose confidence in the professional services of the security agencies.

He feared that the democracy in the country is now on the road to anarchy as the confidence the citizens are supposed to have in the security agencies in ensuring their protection is gradually failing.
