NDC's 'March for Justice' Demonstration Will Be a Test Case - Nana Akomea

Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea says NDC's 'March for Justice' protest will be a test case; whether or not other demonstrations will be encouraged.

The youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) yesterday, embarked on their demonstration to register their displeasure on the state of 'insecurity' and other issues in the country.

Clad in red, the protesters held placards with various inscriptions including; “Akufo-Addo, you are a dictator", "Kum Yen Preko", "We feel your silence Akufo-Addo and Bawumia", "Ghanaian lives matter”, “Ahmed Suale deserved to live", "No justice for the dead", "no peace, #WeAreAllKaaka", among others.

Speaking on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Nana Akomea said; "I'm happy they've been allowed to demonstrate . . . we're still in an era of COVID and so it's worrying when a group wants to demonstrate, but demonstrations are also a right . . . there's a need for a balance . . . so we need to allow the demonstration and ensure adherence to the safety protocols, and so NDC's protest will be a test case for us to know how it will go especially in relation to adherence to the COVID protocols."

"When all goes well then other groups like #FixTheCountry Movement can also be allowed to demonstrate," he added.
