You Have A Huge Role To Play In Eradicating Hooliganism In Our Football – Herbert Mensah To Ghanaian Media

Former Asante Kotoko Chairman, Herbert Mensah has said that the Ghanaian media have a huge role to play in dealing with hooliganism in the country’s football business.

His comment comes following the recent spike of hooliganism in the country’s football with referees, players, and coaches being assaulted on every match day.

The division one league this season in particular, has recorded series of hooliganism with Sekondi Hasaacas head coach Mustapha Fudail and goalkeeper Anthony Brebo as victims last weekend.

Speaking at a forum to address hooliganism in football – an event organized by 3 Sports in collaboration with the Ghana FA, Herbert Mensah believes if the country’s football business will be attractive to investors, then it dawns on the media to ensure that the fight against hooliganism becomes a success.

He stated that, if hooliganism will be a thing of the past in Ghana’s football, then the media should double their efforts in educating the populace particularly football fans to transcend that energy into something else that will benefit the country positively.

He said that “the media have a huge role to play in educating and transforming that culture (Hooliganism) into something else. I really believe so, and if they can’t do that we have to go into other suggestions and show people that we are not ready to tolerate that. “
