Covid-19 Fight: GHS Adopts Peer-to-peer Enforcement Strategy To Stop Spread of The Virus - Dr Aboagye Dacosta
The Leader of Risk Communication, Covid-19, Dr Aboagye Dacosta has disclosed that in an attempt to support the government initiative to enforce every Ghanaian to wear facemasks, the Ghana Health Service has introduced a peer-to-peer enforcement strategy.
According to the Director of Health Promotion, the new strategy adopted by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is to ensure that every Ghanaian will have a sense of responsibility to tell their peers to wear the facemasks.
Citing examples, Dr Aboagye Dacosta said that Ghanaians should insist that their friends are always in their facemasks whenever they want to engage them in conversations.
He added that both the vendor and the buyer should make sure that they are both wearing facemasks before engaging in any transaction.
“Don’t board any commercial vehicle if the driver and his assistant are not wearing facemasks and the driver and his assistant should demand same from the passengers before they board the vehicle. They should insist on the facemasks wearing," he cited this on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show.
Dr Aboagye Dacosta maintained that the strategy is a way to support the government initiative to fight the Covid-19 and reduce the infection rate in the country as the figures of the active cases and the death rate are on the rise.
