All Roads Lead To Winneba As ECOWAS’ Extraordinary Summit Kicks Off Today

Winneba, the Municipal capital of Effutu in the Central Region is the place to be as the entire West African sub-region converge in the town.

About one hundred and ten (110) Members of Parliament across the entire West African sub-region have met at Winneba for the ECOWAS’ Extraordinary Parliamentary Session.

This is historic in the sense that never has ECOWAS held such a summit in a city or town other than the national capitals of member states.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo graced the opening ceremony with his presence on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

The colourful event has sent thousands of people in and outside the country to Effutu and its surrounding towns.

Businesses are booming, tourism is being enhanced as hotels and other guest houses have had more than enough customers patronizing their edifices.

The summit will end on Friday, 22nd October, 2021 when all the participating MPs from the various countries would leave for their respective countries.

In all these, we cannot ignore the key role played by the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwwmena Afenyo-Markin who, through engagements with the powers that be, ensured that this all-important summit was held in Winneba.
