Aspirants Doling Out TVs, Fridges & Other Items During Party Primaries Basic Requirement - Nana Akomea Confirms

Managing Director of State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has confirmed that there is financial inducement in political elections in the country.

There have been many occasions where aspiring candidates for political positions have been reported to sharing items and money to delegates or electorates to woo them into voting for them but many of them deny the reports.

Making submissions on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Nana Akomea opened up on some of the things that political aspirants do to win elections.

He noted that, even at party primaries not to mention national elections, before a candidate will emerge a victor, he/she would have to distribute items like Televison, refrigerators among others.

He cited a scenario where the former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, during the party's Regional elections, gave out TV sets to delegates and even in one instance had to assign a member of his campaign team to escort a delegate home to deliver her goods as a test of loyalty to vote for him.

"Elections are not so easy," he stressed.
