On Monday, 29th November, 2021 the Governing Board and staff of Right to Information Commission in relation to a public lecture organised by the Commission, paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Goaso, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah I at his palace, to announce their presence in the Ahafo region.

The Executive Secretary, Yaw Sarpong Boateng indicated that it is imperative that the Commission gives honour to whom honour is due and hence cannot be in Goaso for a public lecture without announcing their presence to the chief. "We have come here to have an engagement with the people and workers on your land and so, we have come here today to officially inform you of our presence and ask of your blessings." He said.

The Executive Secretary briefly talked about the Commission and the importance of the implementation of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989). "The RTI Act was passed into law in May 2019. However, the Commission was established in October 2020 to seek the smooth implementation of the RTI Act. This, in the end, will bring about Accountability and Transparency among public institutions." He added.

The paramount chief of the Goaso Traditional Area, Nana Akwasi Bosomprah I, expressed excitement for the presence of the Commission in his region and advised that the Commission should at all times exercise their mandate in truth without fear or favour because he is very optimistic that when such happens, individuals will be responsible when assigned to undertake any task knowing that his negligence, misappropriation may cost him.

He said, "I am extremely happy for this step by the Commission and I want to implore you to work with all diligence without fear or favor”.

Ghana has suffered at the hands of some of these public institutions and I hope this brings some level of sanity, Accountability, and Transparency in the dealings of public institutions.

Nana Akwasi Bosomprah I, further intimated that he is happy that the Commission is not going to be at a centralised place but intends to decentralised its operations which he sees as the best practice to carry the ordinary people along.
