Road Accidents: Deploy Daytime Police Patrols To Check Reckless Driving - MP Appeals To IGP

Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro constituency, Slyvester Tetteh is appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Dampare to beef up Police presence on the country's roads.

Speaking on Peace FM's morning show ''Kokrokoo'', the MP expressed worries over the increasing rate of road accidents.

Over 2,608 people have reportedly died of road accidents with numerous numbers with serious degrees of injuries fro, January to November.

Some causes of accidents on the roads include overspeeding, reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, poor roads among others.

Addressing this disturbing issue, Sylvester Tetteh believed sending Police patrols not only in the nights but also daytime to check the reckless behaviours of drivers and ensuring the guilty ones are arrested and prosecuted will remedy the situation.

He called on the IGP to deploy Police patrols both in the night and day saying, "the night patrols are very, very important but let's deploy daytime patrols as well . . we plead with the IGP to send some Police patrols on the streets, particularly the Accra to Kumasi stretch of road . . .they must also be patroling the road to identify people at the spot and punish them''.
