Brawl In Parliament: I'll Call For 'Boxing' MPs To Be Dealt With When Parliament Resumes - Ursula Owusu-Ekuful

Minster for Communications and Digitization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful says she will make sure all the Members of Parliament who engaged in e-levy fight face the full rigors of the laws.

According to her, the perpetrators will not be left off the hook.

On Monday, Ghanaians witnessed an aggressive fight among the MPs as the Majority and Minority decided to exercise their punching skills in the House.

The fight was motivated by a decision by the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, who when sitting in for the Speaker Alban Bagbin, rose from his seat to hand over the reins to the Second Deputy Speaker in order to assume his original position as an MP, thereby having the right to join a voting section on the e-levy.

But the Minority attempted to prevent him from handing over leading to the fight.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful pledged that when Parliament resumes, she is "going to call for all those responsible for this act to be dealt with the law or else we will be fueling impunity in the House of Parliament . . .  If we call ourselves honorable Members of Parliament, we should live up to that name and act in an honorable manner''.

"Frankly, this is my third time in Parliament and I haven't seen nothing like this before. It's very shameful! Those doing that are the NDC people who think they should use violence in everything they do. We should call them out and let the whole world know that it's not everybody who is like that. What happened was ignited by them," she added.
