As part of measures to streamline Ghana's education system, the government has introduced the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The STEM is to help the Ghanaian student gain practical skills after leaving school and aimed at bridging the unemployment gap in the country.

The STEM is believed to churn out more youth entrepreneurs in the Ghanaian society.

Ensuring that STEM materializes, the government has set up STEM centers in various schools.

In an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' Monday morning, the Minister for Education, Yaw Osei Adutwum confirmed that most of the STEM centers are in the completion phase.

He noted that, according to research, a few people pursue Science as compared to other subjects.

"When you even add Agric Science to the main Science, only 15% people are doing it. There are some places that the people doing Science form only 3 to 4 percent," he said, stressing this is why the STEM is important to government.

He revealed that the STEM centers in schools like the, ''Accra High will be ready this year. The robots and machinery to equip it are already available. A school like GyeneGyene Senior High also has their STEM building completed . . . these are all because instead of the 15%, we have to get about 40% of the students offering the STEM subjects. You are in a High School but doing engineering. You are in a High School but doing robotics and should be able to write your WASSCE on it''.
