Detaining Abronye DC Was 'Uncalled-For And Unnecessary' - MP Blasts Police

Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency, Sylvester Tetteh has condemned the Police detention of Bono Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe after inviting him for interrogation.

Kwame Baffoe, popularly called Abronye DC, was detained over his claims that former President John Mahama is involved in a coup plot.

He has been charged him with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.

Reacting to the arrest during a panel discussion on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Hon. Sylvester Tetteh described the Police action on Abronye DC as ''unnecessary''.

According to him, the Police should have released the NPP guru to go home after the invite.

''The Police action on Abronye, for me, I think it was uncalled-for. They should have granted him bail...It was unnecessary for the Police to have detained Abronye overnight'', he bellowed.
