Road Accidents: Accra-Cape Coast/Takoradi Road Is The "Devil's Triangle" - Allotey Jacobs

Bernard Allotey Jacobs has bemoaned the numerous accidents occuring on the Accra to Cape Coast/Takoradi roads.

Statistics show that over 700 people have died of road accidents from January to March this year.

Last year, thousands of road accidents were recorded in the country.

Road accidents are a major concern to Ghanaians as they seek after lasting solution to this problem.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, the former NDC Central Regional Chairman also raised concerns over this alarming situation.

He wondered why the accidents on particularly the Accra - Cape Coast and Takoradi roads and what the authorities are doing to curb the issue.

To him, "the Accra-Cape Coast/Takoradi road is the devil's triangle. It appears witches and wizards go into a meeting with the drivers for the accidents to be happening on such roads".

He stressed one of the causes is the attitude of the road users, specifically drivers who ply such roads.

He explained that many of the drivers overspeed and/or engage in reckless overtaking resulting in the accidents.

Another cause, he further cited, is engineering of the roads as they are somehow designed to be a death trap.

Allotey Jacobs also called on the road authorities to be up and doing in enforcing the traffic regulations.
