KNUST Defers 6,000 Students: What Kind of System Are You Running? - Sefa Kayi Questions KNUST

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has asked about 6,000 students to defer their courses over their inability to pay fees.

According to the University’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, “the problem we have now is that a number of students are playing games with the University. For example, they use their school fees to buy cars for Uber, others are using it to set up bakeries, and others are also using it for betting, and we have evidence. Some parents have even sent us audio where students have received the fees but have refused to pay or simply trading with the money”.

But interacting with Sports Journalist, Dan Kweku Yeboah on Peace Power Sports, Kwami Sefa Kayi expressed shock over the fact that a huge number of students will owe that much when Management could have avoided it.

"What kind of system are you running in the school . . . GHc55m accumulated fees? How? I don’t understand. A whole university will sit down for students not to pay fees to the tune of GHc55m?" he questioned.

Entrepreneurs

Meanwhile, Sefa Kayi has commended the students for having an entrepreneurial spirit; however using their school fees for betting, others, was wrong.

"They’re business-oriented but they should also realize that you can't use your fees for such ventures; you cannot use your school fees for that," he cautioned.
