Otto Addo To Be Named As Permanent Black Stars Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to name Otto Addo as permanent coach of the Black Stars.

The Borussia Dortmund youth development coach will take over the reigns of the national in a permanent role after the German club agreed to the latest plan.

Addo guided the Black Stars to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after dispatching sworn West African rivals Nigeria in an epic two-legged qualifiers in March.

The former Ghana international, who is the ideal candidate for the Ghana FA, has been given a seal of approval by his German employers to take over the Ghana job on a permanent basis.

He will be in charge of the team for the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations which starts in June and the World Cup later in the year.

He will also be in charge of the team if Ghana qualifies for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The 46-year-old is the surest bet for the African giants after he masterminded the country's qualification to the global showpiece in the most incredible manner.

Ghana held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in the Nigerian capital, winning the tie on away goals to become the first African country to book a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana will face Portugal, who beat Ghana 2-1 in the group stages on their last appearance at the tournament in 2014, and South Korea in Group H in Qatar before their anticipated re-match with two-time World Cup winners Uruguay.

African powerhouse Ghana qualified by beating Nigeria, while South Korea and their talismanic striker Son Heung-min will also look to unsettle the perceived bigger footballing heavyweights — just as South Korea did by beating Germany at Russia 2018.
