U.S-GHANA BUSINESS FORUM: ‘We Seek To Deepen Trade & Investment Ties With Ghana'- US Deputy Secretary Of Commerce

The US Deputy Secretary of Commerce, H.E. Don Graves, has disclosed that the United States seeks to deepen diplomatic relations and expand trade and investment ties between Ghana and the U.S, in a mutually beneficial partnership.

He made this known in his speech at the U.S-GHANA BUSINESS FORUM 2022, held in Accra.

The diplomatic and trade relationship between the United States and Ghana dates back in decades. This is because there are many notable mutually beneficial trade and other economic collaborations that has helped improve the livelihoods of citizens of the two countries.

This diplomatic relationship is being taken to another level as the U.S-Ghana Business Forum 2022 held in Accra brought together many US and Ghana Business community who seeks to collaborate to expand the trade partnership between the two countries. Most importantly, the meeting sought to find out how the US can help make Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement more robust.

H.E. Don Graves indicated that they are in to build a mutually beneficial long lasting trade partnership with Ghana in different sectors of the economy, namely agriculture, energy production, amongst others.

On his part, the Minister of Finance, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, spoke on how leveraging on AfCFTA can help promote US-Africa Commercial partnership.

The Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, on her part, highlighted Ghana's pursuit of a digitalization agenda that facilitates smooth business delivery within the country and with other African countries.

She further explained that it's only through digitalization and the commitment to building capacities of the youth in ICT and the use of payment systems across the African continent that AfCFTA can succeed.
