I Am Ashamed And Hurt For Not Making It To The Legend Nana Ampadu’s Funeral - Sarkodie

Internationally celebrated musician, Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie, who has won numerous awards, has expressed his regret and remorse over missing Nana Ampadu’s funeral.

On Friday, October 7, a state funeral was held at the State House for the late famed Highlife musician Nana Kwame Ampadu. Friends and family members attended.

President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, Dr. Ofori Sarpong, were among the numerous dignitaries who attended his funeral.  

The Actors Guild, members of the Music Ghana Association (MUISGA), and several legends were also present during the funeral.


Sarkodie gave an explanation for his absence from the renowned Nana Ampadu’s funeral on Twitter, adding that he felt guilty for not there.

He wrote;

“Ashamed and hurt for not making it to the Legend Nana Ampadu’s funeral … Uncle David Dontoh told me about it last Sunday… Crazy how I had it on my mind from then and still missed it. but all the same Rest In Peace Grandpa May the almighty keep you safe”.

The "Labadi" Rapper also admitted that he has failed for not attending funeral of several veteran musicians who have passed away in the past adding that he needs to do better. 

“No excuse makes sense to even myself missing all these legends funerals.. Need to do better 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿”.
