Education Minister Condemns School Some Heads....Shoots Down Food Shortage Reports
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education has criticized some school heads for fueling reports that there's food shortage in their schools.
Some regional chairpersons of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) alleged that schools will be forced to close down if the government failed to supply food.
The association served notice to the Ministry of Education after it failed to meet a two-week emergency food supply deadline to provide the schools with food and money.
According to the heads of these schools, students will be sent home until enough food and money are made available to the schools.
But speaking in an interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' Dr Adutwum debunked these claims insisting adequate supplies have been made to the schools in question.
"There’s no school that is without food…what worries me is that when the schools complain of food shortage and they are provided they don’t come back to say their needs have been met and that fuels reports of food shortage. All these schools mentioned have been given food," he indicated.
"No school has been closed down or is likely to close down because of lack of food…most often when you call the heads they deny...you cry about food shortage and you're justified but when they provide it why don’t you write that you’ve been given food? This is what I don’t understand," he lamented.
