It has been confirmed that the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) still has in its custody about 13,000 copies of the yet-to-be-released �Atta Mortuary Man� movies which they seized a fortnight ago.
Producer of the movie, Kofi Asamoah, says the BNI told him they seized the movie because his production company, Tiger House, was not registered and that he had evaded taxes.
This was contrary to suspicions that the movie - given its title - was intended to slight President J.E.A. Mills who has since the ruling National Democratic Congress' Tamale Congress two years ago, been referred to the catcall.
13,000 copies of the movie were forcibly taken by persons said to be heavily armed national security men, an action that attracted much condemnation from various quarters especially from the public and the Ghana Cinematography Exhibition Control Board and opposition New Patriotic Party.
Kofi Asamoah, lamenting the seizure to Adom FM, said, �How can we evade tax when this is the first project of the production house which has not even been sold? "I am expecting that after our meeting with them our CDs will be released to us�, he stated.
A second movie he also produced, �O uncle Atta� has also been stopped from going onto the market because it is still under scrutiny by the Cinematography Exhibition Control Board.
