Kanu Testimonial Match: Essien, Desailly Hit Lagos Thursday

Baring any unforeseen circumstance, Chelsea star Michael Essien and 1998 World Cup winner Marcel Desailly are expected to hit Lagos ahead of Saturday�s testimonial match for ex-Nigeria skipper, Nwankwo Kanu in Lagos, Nigeria. P.M.Sports gathered early today that Essien and Desailly have confirmed their arrival date to the organisers of the testimonial game, the Kanu Heart Foundation, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF and the Lagos State Football Association, LSFA. Thirty four-year-old Kanu is calling time on his international career, which began in 1994 with a substitute appearance in a friendly against Sweden. The match will raise funds for a heart specialist hospital which the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) plan to build in Abuja. According to the orgainsers, NFF, the sports-loving Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State will captain the Super Eagles� All-Stars against the Friends of Kanu. The governor has also approved the free use of the Teslim Balogun Stadium for the showpiece.
