Sweet Victory!!! Ablakwa Elated After NDC MPs Block Govt's Allocation For National Cathedral

The NDC Member of Parliament(MP) for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is elated over the rejection of the GH¢80 million budgetary allocation for the National Cathedral project.

The Trade, Industry and Tourism committee of parliament on Tuesday rejected the budget allocation for the construction of the National Cathedral.

The minority side of the committee won by an 11:10 majority decision to reject the GH¢80 million budgetary allocation for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for the National Cathedral of Ghana.

The allocation was contained in the Appropriations Bill of the 2023 fiscal policy of the ruling government.

Reacting to this in a tweet, the North Tongu MP said: “Congratulations to my gallant NDC MP colleagues on the joint committee of Trade and Sports for defeating the outrageous and sleazy GH¢80million Cathedral budgetary allocation by a crunch 11-10 victory a few minutes ago. Glory be to God for helping us with this sweet victory.”

Meanwhile, he has also congratulated the NDC MPs "both at the Foreign Affairs Committee & at plenary" for "effectively" scuttling "government’s 2023 plans to demolish the Accra International Conference Centre & construct a new one at a staggering €116million (GHS1.3billion)".
