Konadu Rawlings Lobbies Ashanti

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has intensified her bid to oust President Mills as NDC flag bearer for the 2012 polls with a full-blown campaign in the Ashanti region. The President of the 31st December Womens Movement who stormed Kumasi with her husband Jerry John Rawlings for the June 4 celebration did not return to Accra after the event with him. Rawlings announced during the celebration that Nana Konadu would be staying behind in the Ashanti region to campaign for her presidential bid. Getting to the latter part of his speech the former president said Nana Konadu would be staying in Kumasi to campaign so please take good care of her during her stay for me. Nana Konadu enjoys massive support among NDC members, especially party delegates in the Ashanti region, party insiders hinted Daily Guide. They therefore wondered why Nana Konadu has decided to stay and campaign in the Ashanti region when in their view, victory is already a done deal for her in the area. But sources close to the Konadu campaign team that spoke to Daily Guide on condition of anonymity said she is not the kind of person who is easily swayed by rumors. According to them, the former First Lady frowns on complacency and is therefore willing to campaign vigorously till congress day to win a first round victory. They disclosed that Nana Konadu would stay in the region for four days during which she would tour all 39 constituencies in the area to interact with delegates. One of the campaign members expressed surprise about the level of strength and will power that Nana Konadu has displayed so far since she began touring the country to meet delegates. They summed it all up by saying Nana Konadu has displayed so far that she would be an effective leader whose reign would not be characterized by government officials doing their own thing like we are witnessing now.
