NPP’s Stay In Power Offers Hope - Krobea Asante

A Deputy Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante, has stated that the NPP’s continuous stay in government offers the country better hope for a brighter future than the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stressed that in spite of the considerable challenges that confront every government, he is confident that the party’s record in office would put it in good stead before the electorate ahead of the 2024 general elections, and earn NPP a third term in office.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of TESCON at Kings College University (KCU) in Accra, he recalled that the NPP won the December 7, 2020 elections because it delivered on most of its promises between 2017 and 2020.

He also indicated that, currently, the Akufo-Addo administration is doing all it takes to change the fortunes of Ghana.

Based on this reason, he appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind NPP for the improvement in the living their standards and the rapid transformation of the economy to continue earnestly.

Sell govt achievement

He further charged the TESCON executives to be missionaries in spreading the good news of development being rolled out by the Akufo-Addo administration.

“I encourage the new leadership of TESCON and their members to take active interest in promoting and defending the enviable achievements of the NPP’s government, led by Nana Akufo-Addo, on all platforms. I emphasize the need for the students to own the ‘breaking the 8’ agenda since the NPP’s continuous stay in government offers them better hope for a brighter future,” he stated.

He said it is part of the process to position the party to ‘break the eight’, adding “such information will go a long way to convince the ordinary Ghanaian to appreciate the gains, and be encouraged to vote massively for the NPP in 2024”.

Mr Krobea Asante also stressed the need for commitment in sustaining the fight to keep government in power, adding: “We cannot accept the backsliding that takes place every now and then. It doesn’t benefit our nation.”

He told the students that the prospects for the global economy, including the giant economies, had been severely undermined in recent months because of the global turmoil caused by COVID-19 and Russian-Ukraine war.

“All over the world, many countries, including giant economies, are going for one form of support or the other from the IMF. The truth of the matter is that there is global crisis, which has adversely affected the global economy, and Ghana is not an exception,” he said added.

Concern

That, he explained, had had a negative impact on commodity and fuel prices, stoking food crisis and provoking financial market volatility.

“Although the bombs may be dropping on cities half a world away, they are hitting our pockets, not only in Ghana and Africa, but also much of the developing world. As Ghanaians, this is the time not to throw our hopes in despair. Don’t lose hope in the ability of the current government to turn things remarkably around to provide you with a decent standard of living,” he urged.

In his opinion, even though the citizens have the constitutional right to express their views on national matters like this, it should be done with decorum and in the spirit of nationalism.

He urged the students to encourage the party’s rank and file that the NPP administration can be trusted to lead Ghanaians through the current economic challenges, and secure a better future for them.

He stated the performance of the current NPP government, in the midst of crisis, is far better than the opposition NDC’s best administration in terms of economic management.

Thanking the leadership of TESCON-KUC, he called on Ghanaians to remain calm, and continue to have confidence in the Akufo-Addo government to engineer the necessary economic rebound.
