'BoG Has Gone Rogue and Become a Lawless Money Printing Syndicate' - NDC Blasts Gov't

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is misdirecting Ghanaians as they address what they say is the true state of Ghana's economy.

The party held a forum on Monday, March 20 at the auditorium of University of Professional Studies, Accra, on what it describes as the ‘True State of the Nation Address’.

The ‘True State of the Nation Address’ was organized to counter the State of the Nation Address by President Nana Addo on Wednesday, March 8.

The National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, delivering a speech before a gathering sought to reveal the rot in government.

"Cruel financial haircuts never before imagine have become a normalized feature of this reckless regime. All credit-rating agencies have declared Ghana junk and bankrupt. Ghana has for the first time in more than half a century defaulted in its debt obligations. Youth employment is at an all-time high according to the 2020 Population and Housing Census," he lambasted the President.

He continued that, due to the poor administration of the State under the Akufo-Addo regime, "many businesses, banks and industries have collapsed and some have relocated to other countries in the sub-region".

"The Bank of Ghana has gone rogue and become a lawless money printing syndicate," he exclaimed.

He added; "There have been massive job losses as a result. Corruption has reached an epidemic levels as epitomized by the special COVID-19 audit which was an IMF bailout precondition. The President refuses to cut down on the size of his bloated government. Human rights violations are on the ascendency with the recent condemnable killing of a soldier and the unfortunate brutalities in Ashaiman, all of which President Akufo-Addo, as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, refuse to speak about."

On behalf of the NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketia, also called 'General Mosquito', appealed to Ghanaians to give the party their unflinching support.
