New Kwabenya Police Barracks Will Not Rot off Maintenance - G/A Minister

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey has assured that the newly commissioned Kwabenya police barracks will be keenly monitored to serve their purpose and also well maintained.

He told NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie' that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Dampare has promised to ensure that the magnificent edifice will not rot.

“He [IGP] has assured us that there will be strict maintenance,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.

The government commissioned 322 newly-built one- and two-bedroom self-contained flats, out of 514 to be occupied by the police in Accra.

The event, which was graced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, includes units “fitted with modern facilities, and will serve as comfortable homes, afford a conducive working environment for police officers and their families.”

The project is in line with the government’s plan to build modern barracks for the security services, to accommodate their increasing numbers.

When completed, the project is expected to produce 504 housing units, a clinic, a school block, a police maintenance unit, a police barracks, a police station, a fuel depot and a garage.
