#SuperDelegatesCongress: 'It Was A Good Process' - Kwabena Agyepong Lauds EC & NPP Election Committee

NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kwabena Agyepong who failed to make the top five during the party's Special Delegates Congress on Saturday has praised the NPP Election Committee and Electoral Commission for a successful election on Saturday.

According to him, though he is disappointed for not being elected among the five candidates into the November 4th election aimed at electing the party's flagbearer, he is however content with the outcome of the election.

He lauded the election supervisors for doing a good job.

"I think it was a good process. It was a simple walking process. No gatherings; no addresses and campaigning" on the election day, he said in an interview on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show.

The NPP held its Special Delegates Congress on Saturday to trim the number of candidates from ten to five.

With 961 delegates participating in the election, Kwabena Agyepong polled 6 votes representing 0.65%.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia polled an overwhelming 629 votes representing 68.15% to come first on the list of five followed by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong who polled 132 votes representing 14.3% and former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen jumped to third with 95 votes (10.29%).

Dr Afriyie Akoto placed fourth with 36, a percentage of 3.9.

Former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai Nimoh both garnered 9 votes and will go for a run-off on Saturday, September 2, to decide the fifth candidate; according to the NPP Election Committee.
