Docket Not Closed On Major Mahama’s Case....Hundreds To Be Fished Out By CID - Family

The family of the late Major Maxwell Mahama has revealed that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police has not closed docket on the murder of their beloved relative, Major Mahama.

The father of the late soldier, Captain Dennis Mahama (Rtd) disclosed this information on TV3.

According to the deceased's father, there are many more accomplices who are on the run and the police is trying as much as possible to close in on them.

Following the gruesome murder of the gallant soldier, some persons suspected to be behind the mob justice were picked up by the joint forces of the military and the Ghana police service. They were subsequently arraigned before court for prosecution.

After a seven (7) year trial, the court pronounced judgement on the accused persons on Monday, January 29, 2024. Twelve (12) persons out of the fourteen persons arraigned, were found guilty of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The verdict of the seven member panel who adjudicated the murder case was a unanimous one.

Providing further details, the retired military officer revealed that, the CID in charge of the murder case presented three video evidences which were adduced by the court as part of the viable evidence, which captures the images of several other accomplices.

"There were over a hundred people; those who were preventing him from dying, those who were encouraging them to do what they did. They are all accomplices but we got only fourteen. Two have been discharged and twelve have been sentenced but that is the law so we will take it like that....The CID has not closed the case but has revealed that there are more people in the video who are accomplices. The CID will fish them out wherever they are," he stated.

Captain Dennis Mahama (Rtd), however, added that the twelve persons who have been slapped with life imprisonment jail terms, does not meet the expectation of the family.
