President Akufo-Addo, while delivering his 2024 edition of his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parlaiment on Tuesday, February 27, 2024], faced series of heckling by the Minority Members of Parlaiment (MPs).

This happened after the President threw a jab at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC's) past performance when the latter held the reins of power.

The Minority MPs responded to the President's jabs with theatrical groans and attempted to interrupt the flow of his address by chanting former President John Dramani Mahama's name; that the flag bearer of the NDC is surely coming back to power. 

Undeterred by their actions, President Akufo-Addo then addressed the Speaker directly by saying, "Mr Speaker, come what may, I will have my day in the Hansard."

President's Akufo-Addo's response to the jeers elicited uncontrolled laughter from both the Majority and Minority MPs.  

The SONA was in accordance with article 67 of the 1992 constitution which mandates the President to give the State of the Nation Address at the beginning and closure of every Parliamentary Session.
