LGBTQ+ Bill: Akufo-Addo's Situation Is Akin to the Story of the Biblical Moses - Kokofu

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection agency (EPA), Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu says the current situation President Akufo-Addo is faced with is akin to the story of the biblical Moses.

Kokofu pointed that the leadership tenure of Akufo-Addo has been faced with a myriad of discomforting challenges which tells of the story of the biblical Moses.

Kwabena Kokofu added that, Nana Akufo-Addo had very good intentions for Ghana at the time he assumed office as President. From 2017 to 2019, President Akufo-Addo navigated the ship to a smooth sail only to be hit by the unforgettable Covid-19 pandemic followed by the Russia-Ukraine war.

According to him, these unforeseen unfavorable conditions presented real difficult challenges to the economy of Ghana.

Dr. Kwabena Kokofu added that, just as the country was turning the corner to restore the economy to its rightful place, the country has been hit by another dilemma, which is the Anti-gay bill which is attracting some financial sanctions from the international communities.

Speaking further, Dr. Kokofu said, "It is about time we see ourselves as one nation. We have to accept that, the country is for us. We have to work together as one and support the President to make the right decisions in spite of the actions the international communities will take against us."

"We need to assure the President that the entire country is in support of the passage of the law and not vilify him when we begin to suffer the consequences of the passage of the bill into law.

"We have to be nationalistic for once. Let us assure the President as a people. This is the time he needs our encouragement."

In his final submission, Dr. Henry Kokofu called on the Christian Council of Ghana and all stakeholders to rally their support behind the President in the signing of the bill and lend an unflinching support when the country begins to experience more economic hardships.
