Konadu Refused To Shake Hands With Me NDC Chairman

Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Opoku Atuahene has revealed that Former First Lady and one of the aspirants for the party's flagbearership, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, openly snubbed him by refusing to shake his outstretched hand at a public function. According to him, he tried exchanging pleasantries with the former First Lady after a meeting with her campaign team, but she deliberately turned her back at him, and blatantly refused to acknowledge his presence. I had to forcefully take the former first ladys hand and shake her without her will, he said. Speaking in an interview with Alhassan Suhini on Radio Gold, Mr. Atuahene said he strongly believes that the former First Ladys refusal to exchange pleasantries with him might be due to the fact that he (Atuahene) had previously told her to the face that it was wrong on her part to run against President Mills since he (Mills) seemed up to task. When she entered the meeting grounds, she shouted our (NDC) slogan and we all responded. But after the meeting, as courtesy demands, we had to finally greet each other before we depart; so I tried greeting her by shaking her hand and she turned elsewhere...but I took her hand and shook it by force and left. She did not respond to my greetings and I guess it was becausewe do not support her candidature. So I suspected that it was the reason why she was not interested in shaking my hands, he alleged. He also revealed that earlier, there were reports the Brong Ahafo Regional Executives had declared their unflinching support for the former First Lady, a claim he roundly condemned and strenuously denied, adding that all these reasons might have led to Nana Konadus refusal to shake his hand. We heard that the Brong Ahafo regional executives had endorsed Nana Konadu for the flagbearership position and that she coming to the Brong Ahafo has been the best, but we denied it that it is to the contrary. We in the Brong Ahafo had indicated clearly at the meeting that we do not support her, he said.
