The much-talked-about �Ghana In Prophecy� conference, which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre yesterday, recorded an abysmal turnout as most of the supposed men of God lined up for the event stayed away. Organisers of the event anticipated a high turnout but right from the beginning to the end of the programme, only a handful of people filled a few of the several seats in the conference room. The organisers, as well as the few people who participated, blamed the media for the low turnout because of the bad press the programme had generated in the print and electronic media in the past three days. The only �heavy weight� who attended was Deputy Finance and Economic Planning Minister Fifi Kwetey, who was neck-deep in the organisation of the event. Fiifi said ahead of the event that he helped in mobilising prophets for the show but most of them declined because of the murkiness of the arrangements. Fiifi Kwetey did not spare the media either, seeking to discount reports that government sponsored the event, which had been described as a �religious fraud� by Prophet Segbene Xenodzi, one of the people contacted to take part in the programme. Segbene was one of the several men of God who had been lined up to speak at the function but rescinded his decision when he realised the conference was merely meant to �to sing the praises of President Mills and also prophesy in that regard�. When he got the opportunity to address the handful of persons who attended the conference, Fiifi Kwetey, who was described at the programme as �A friend of Ghana�s Prophetic Destiny Intercessors Group�, said President Mills did not need to organise men of God to shore up support for him since God already had plans for him (Mills). Apart from the fact that the conference recorded a low turnout, some of the men of God who were scheduled to supposedly prophesy at the event did not show up. Our sources said most of these prophets failed to attend the programme because they did not want to be associated with a conference that had been branded as a fraud. Others, according to DAILY GUIDE sources, did not show up upon hearing that it was intended to shore up support for President Mills. A day after DAILY GUIDE published a story about the �Ghana In Prophecy� conference with details of an audio recording containing conversations of organisers of the event, Prophet Segbene, who was originally billed to speak at the forum, raced to the Nima offices of the newspaper, distancing himself from what he described as a fraudulent event. He was angered by the subtle denial of the story by Fiifi Kwetey and conference coordinator Reverend Eli Lumor, of government�s involvement. Segbene, whose voice was also captured on the audio recording, was compelled to give credence to the story, thereby showing pictures of a series of meetings they had on the conference. He said he listened to the two individuals on radio and could not countenance the denials, and decided to come out since he felt the need to tell Ghanaians the truth about the whole deal, describing it as a �religious fraud�. He said government had allocated an amount of money for its organisation. It was learnt that GH�40,000 (�400million) was allocated for the organisation of the programme.
